The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Industrial Training and Development, Adamson Oluwatosin Ayinde, has said the Tinubu administration has created more opportunities for young Nigerians to participate in governance and contribute to national development.
Ayinde made the remarks on Sunday in Calabar, Cross River State, during the inauguration of the state chapter executives and polling unit structure of Project Beyond 2027, a political support organization working towards Tinubu’s anticipated re-election campaign.
He maintained that the President had demonstrated a willingness to give young people greater responsibilities in government and provide them with opportunities to contribute to national affairs.
Speaking at the event, Ayinde described the Tinubu administration as a government that recognises the importance of youth participation in leadership and governance. He argued that young Nigerians had been given opportunities to occupy important positions and contribute to policy implementation.
The presidential aide also claimed that between 75 and 80 per cent of members of Tinubu’s cabinet were young people, using the figure to support his position that the administration had prioritised youth inclusion. He further recalled Tinubu’s tenure as governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007, saying the President had demonstrated an interest in involving younger people in governance long before becoming Nigeria’s leader.
Beyond political appointments, Ayinde cited ongoing infrastructure and healthcare projects as examples of the administration’s development efforts. He specifically mentioned the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and other road projects, arguing that infrastructure development remained important to economic growth and improved living conditions.
On healthcare, he pointed to reported investments in hospital construction and the employment of medical personnel as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s health system. However, these claims represent the presidential aide’s assessment of the administration’s performance, while the actual impact of the projects and employment initiatives remains a subject for public scrutiny.
Ayinde, who also serves as Director of Strategic Communication for Project Beyond 2027, spoke during the inauguration of the organisation’s Cross River State leadership and polling unit structure. The initiative is expected to strengthen grassroots political engagement and mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The establishment of polling unit structures reflects the growing emphasis on grassroots organisation by political support groups as preparations for the next election cycle continue.
The presidential aide urged young Nigerians to participate actively in the country’s political process and support Tinubu’s anticipated second-term ambition. He maintained that youth involvement would be important to sustaining the administration’s policies and development agenda.
His remarks add to the growing political mobilisation surrounding the 2027 presidential election, with government officials and support organisations increasingly highlighting youth participation as a major component of their political engagement.
As the election approaches, questions surrounding youth representation, access to leadership positions, employment opportunities and the practical impact of government policies are likely to remain central to public discussions.
