Michigan, United States

A 42-year-old man in Michigan, United States, has been arrested and charged with allegedly threatening to kill FBI Director Kash Patel and an unidentified associate, according to federal prosecutors. The suspect, identified as Anthony Daniel Palazzolo of Chesterfield Township, was arrested on Friday, October 30, 2026, following an investigation into threatening messages allegedly sent through Facebook and subsequent communications directed at federal law enforcement officers. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan announced the arrest and charges.

According to the criminal complaint, Palazzolo allegedly sent a Facebook message to an associate of Patel on October 8, claiming that he had arranged a hit against the individual and describing the FBI director as someone who was also going to be killed.

The associate’s identity has not been publicly disclosed in the announcement.

Federal investigators reportedly used information from the suspect’s Facebook and TikTok accounts to identify his residential address in Chesterfield Township.

FBI agents subsequently visited his home on October 9 to question him about the alleged threats.

Prosecutors further alleged that Palazzolo continued contacting and threatening a Detroit-based FBI agent after the interview.

According to the complaint, he allegedly threatened to visit the bureau’s office and use deadly force against federal government officials, including personnel of the FBI and the United States Secret Service.

The allegations formed part of the evidence presented in support of the federal charge.

Palazzolo appeared before a federal court on October 30 following his arrest and was temporarily detained.

A detention hearing was scheduled for November 2, 2026, to determine whether he would remain in custody while the case proceeds.

He faces a charge of interstate communications involving threats, a federal offence.

The US Attorney’s Office stated that a criminal complaint is an allegation and does not constitute proof of guilt. Palazzolo remains entitled to the presumption of innocence, with prosecutors required to establish the charge beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case comes amid heightened attention to threats directed at public officials and federal law enforcement personnel in the United States.

Authorities have not publicly identified Patel’s associate or disclosed any further details about specific security arrangements relating to the alleged threats.

The legal proceedings are expected to continue following the scheduled detention hearing.
