US WARNS OF MORE ATTACKS ON SAUDI ARABIA’S MAJOR AIRPORTS AS SECURITY FEARS GROW

 RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA —

The United States has warned of possible fresh attacks on major airports in Saudi Arabia, urging travellers to exercise extreme caution as security concerns continue to rise across the kingdom. The warning follows a series of attacks targeting aviation facilities, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, raising concerns about passenger safety and further disruption to air travel.

In a security alert issued on October 11, the US Mission in Saudi Arabia said it was aware of additional attacks on Riyadh’s international airport and an attack targeting the airport in Dammam. The mission urged travellers to remain vigilant when using major airports across the country, warning that the security situation could lead to flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures and other travel disruptions. Passengers were also advised to confirm their flight schedules directly with their airlines and the relevant airports before travelling.

The latest warning comes amid escalating attacks on Saudi Arabia’s aviation infrastructure. A deadly strike at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, October 10, reportedly killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300 others, according to Saudi authorities. Further attacks were reported on Sunday, October 11, including another strike at the Riyadh airport that caused additional casualties. The repeated incidents have heightened concerns about the safety of civilians, airport workers and international travellers using the kingdom’s major aviation facilities.

The US warning highlights the possibility of further interruptions to domestic and international flights as the security situation remains uncertain. Travellers planning to visit or depart from Saudi Arabia are advised to monitor official security announcements, check flight information before leaving for the airport and follow instructions from local authorities. Passengers should also be prepared for last-minute changes to their travel plans as airlines and airport operators respond to developing security threats.

The latest developments come amid intensifying hostilities involving Yemen’s Houthi movement and the Saudi-led coalition. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for attacks on Saudi targets, including airports, while the wider conflict continues to raise concerns about regional stability and the safety of critical infrastructure. Further attacks could place additional pressure on the kingdom’s aviation sector, disrupt international travel and deepen security concerns across the region.

NaijaParrot reports that travellers should rely on official security advisories and verified updates from airlines before making decisions about journeys to, from or within Saudi Arabia.
