TINUBU VOWS TO KEEP GOVERNING NIGERIA AS APC BEGINS 2027 RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN

By NaijaParrot October 15, 2026

ABUJA, NIGERIA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that he will not abandon his presidential responsibilities for campaign activities as he prepares to seek re-election in 2027. Tinubu gave the assurance on Wednesday, October 14, during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, where he was named chairman of the council.

The President said the demands of electioneering would not prevent him from attending to the country’s pressing needs, stressing that his responsibility as head of state would continue regardless of the political season.

Responding to concerns raised by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who serves as secretary of the campaign council, Tinubu agreed that governance must remain a priority while the party’s campaign team takes the lead in mobilising support across the country. I hear you.

I am in full agreement with your decision. Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause,” the President said.

Tinubu added that he would still make time to communicate directly with Nigerians but would avoid travelling extensively across the 36 states as campaign activities intensify.

He said the campaign council and party leaders would handle much of the mobilisation at state and local government levels.

Uzodimma had urged the President to remain focused on governance, arguing that the administration’s economic reforms required his continued attention to achieve their intended outcomes.

He said the campaign council should manage the bulk of the electioneering activities to prevent political engagements from distracting the President from his duties.

The governor also described the 2027 election as an opportunity for Nigerians to assess the administration’s economic policies and decide whether to continue with the current reform programme.

At the inauguration, Tinubu said the APC intended to take the administration’s record, vision and policy agenda to voters ahead of the election.

He also highlighted the need to meet the country’s financial obligations and attract investors to support future economic growth. Other political leaders at the event expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was named the APC campaign coordinator in Osun, pledged to mobilise support for the President, while Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo also voiced support for continuity with the administration’s reform agenda.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, assigned to coordinate the campaign in Rivers State, urged political leaders to work towards delivering support for Tinubu in their respective areas.

The inauguration marks a further step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

Tinubu’s pledge places the question of balancing official responsibilities with campaign activities at the centre of the party’s preparations.
