OSUN APC DECLARES READINESS TO PARTNER WITH ADELEKE FOR TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION, INSISTS ON GENUINE INCLUSIVITY

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its readiness to work alongside Governor Ademola Adeleke to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election. The party made its position known in a press statement dated October 30, 2026, and signed by its state chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, following a meeting of the State Working Committee held on Wednesday.

The declaration signals a willingness by the Osun APC leadership to collaborate with the governor, who has also expressed commitment to mobilising support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition. However, while welcoming Adeleke’s involvement, the party stressed that the proposed partnership must reflect genuine inclusivity, urging the governor to ensure that APC leaders, stakeholders and members are adequately carried along.

According to the statement, the party has already mapped out several activities and mobilisation strategies aimed at ensuring Tinubu’s victory in the forthcoming presidential election. It disclosed that responsibilities have been assigned across its administrative structures, with party members and stakeholders expected to work towards achieving the objective.

The APC leadership maintained that all its structures across Osun State would be actively deployed to support the President’s re-election bid. The party further expressed appreciation for Adeleke’s decision to support Tinubu, describing cooperation among political stakeholders as important to achieving the desired electoral outcome.

Despite its willingness to partner with the governor, the Osun APC made it clear that the participation of its members must not be overlooked. The party urged Adeleke to take deliberate steps to incorporate APC leaders and other relevant stakeholders into the campaign arrangements. It emphasised that the involvement of the party’s structures and leadership would be essential to building a united political front capable of delivering the desired result.

The demand for inclusivity comes amid earlier disagreements over the composition and inauguration of the Osun Presidential Campaign Council, when the state APC leadership raised concerns about consultation and its level of involvement.

Beyond the presidential contest, the party reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising support for APC candidates seeking election into the National Assembly and the Osun State House of Assembly. The State Working Committee resolved to establish a separate campaign council to coordinate campaign activities and mobilise voters for the party’s legislative candidates.

It also agreed that APC structures at the ward, local government and state levels should be fully utilised to drive its activities ahead of the forthcoming elections. The position suggests that while the party is prepared to cooperate with Adeleke on Tinubu’s presidential ambition, it intends to maintain its independent political machinery in support of its own legislative candidates.

The meeting also acknowledged the efforts of prominent APC leaders in Osun State towards resolving the internal disagreements and challenges confronting the party. The leadership expressed appreciation for their interventions, noting the importance of reconciliation and collective commitment to strengthening the party ahead of future electoral contests. The statement was signed by the Osun APC chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal.

The development adds another significant dimension to the evolving political alignment in Osun State as parties and political leaders prepare for the 2027 general elections.
