England captain and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has been crowned the winner of the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or, earning football’s most prestigious individual honour after an outstanding season for club and country.

The 33-year-old forward claimed the award at the ceremony held at the London Palladium on Monday, October 26, becoming the first Englishman to win the prestigious prize since Michael Owen achieved the feat in 2001. Kane’s victory marks a remarkable milestone in his career, following a phenomenal 2025/2026 campaign in which he delivered an extraordinary goal-scoring performance for Bayern Munich and the England national team.

According to reports, Kane recorded 73 goals across 65 appearances for club and country during the season, including 61 goals for Bayern Munich. His remarkable contributions helped the German giants secure major domestic honours. The England captain also played an important role in his country’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring six goals as England finished third in the competition.

Kane finished ahead of France international Kylian Mbappé, who came second, while Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal secured third place in the final rankings.

The award represents the culmination of years of dedication and perseverance for Kane, who has consistently established himself among the world’s most prolific strikers. Speaking after receiving the honour, Kane expressed gratitude to those who supported his journey, acknowledging the contributions of his teammates, coaches and everyone who helped him achieve the milestone.

His triumph also brings an end to England’s 25-year wait for another men’s Ballon d’Or winner, placing him alongside legendary English footballers who have previously received the award.

Kane’s achievement is another significant chapter in his remarkable career, demonstrating how consistency, hard work and exceptional performances can lead to football’s highest individual recognition.
