DOGUWA URGES NORTHERNERS TO BACK TINUBU IN 2027, DESCRIBES RE-ELECTION AS MORAL DUT

KADUNA, NIGERIA —
A member of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has urged Nigerians in the North to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, describing such support as a “moral political obligation.” Doguwa, who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State, made the appeal in a personally signed statement, according to reports published on Saturday. He also called on Northerners to support other candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker urged people across Northern Nigeria to unite behind Tinubu’s second-term ambition, arguing that continued support for the President would contribute to peaceful coexistence in the country. He said Northerners should work individually and collectively towards Tinubu’s re-election, while expressing confidence that the President would receive substantial backing from the region. Doguwa also argued that the solidarity he receives from political supporters indicates continued support for Tinubu and APC candidates in the North. These assertions represent the lawmaker’s political assessment and have not been independently established as the position of the entire region.
According to the reports, Doguwa made the remarks on Saturday when APC members, area supervisors and council advisers from his constituency visited him at his residence in Kaduna. The visit was described as part of preparations for the forthcoming general elections in Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency. His comments reflect ongoing efforts by APC politicians to mobilise supporters ahead of the 2027 elections.
Doguwa’s description of support for Tinubu as a moral obligation adds to the political debate surrounding regional alliances, party loyalty and the President’s re-election campaign. However, support for any candidate remains a matter of individual political choice. His statement does not establish that all Northern Nigerians share his position, and voters across the region may assess candidates according to their own priorities and experiences. As the 2027 election approaches, the extent of support for the President will ultimately be determined through the electoral process.
NaijaParrot will continue to follow political developments and report verified statements from candidates, parties and public officials ahead of the elections.
