AKUME LEADS NORTH-CENTRAL APC STAKEHOLDERS IN ENDORSING TINUBU FOR 2027 RE-ELECTION

 LAFIA, NASARAWA STATE —

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has announced the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the North-Central region’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. Akume made the declaration on Saturday, October 10, during a grand rally organised by All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, to endorse Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for a second term.

t the rally, Akume, who serves as grand patron of the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network for Tinubu and Shettima, proposed that the region adopt Tinubu as its sole candidate. He urged political stakeholders to respect the long-standing understanding of rotating presidential power between northern and southern Nigeria, arguing that Tinubu should be allowed to complete an eight-year tenure. Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule seconded the motion on behalf of APC governors in the region. The endorsement was subsequently carried at the gathering.

The North-Central geopolitical zone comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory. The rally brought together APC governors and other party leaders, ministers, legislators and political stakeholders to demonstrate support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 elections. Reports said governors from some states attended, while others were represented.

During the endorsement, APC leaders pointed to policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, increased allocations to states and local governments, infrastructure projects and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Supporters argued that these measures justified backing the president for another term. These assessments reflect the position of the party leaders at the rally; their impact and public reception remain matters of political debate.

The North-Central endorsement represents a political commitment by participating APC leaders and stakeholders. It does not, by itself, establish how voters across the region will vote in 2027 or determine the outcome of the presidential election. The election outcome will depend on the votes cast by Nigerians and the official electoral process.

NaijaParrot will continue to report verified developments as political parties and stakeholders prepare for the 2027 general election.
