IWO, OSUN STATE — The Akogun Frontline Team (AFT) has announced plans to mobilise 50,000 youths across the 10 local government areas of Osun West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general election. In an official press statement issued on Wednesday, October 14, the group described the initiative as part of its efforts to expand grassroots political participation, promote youth inclusion in governance and establish a broad-based youth mobilisation structure across the district. The team said the planned mobilisation would cover Ola Oluwa, Iwo, Ayedire, Ayedaade, Irewole, Isokan, Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo local government areas.

As part of its expansion strategy, the Akogun Frontline Team announced that it would welcome interested platforms, support groups, volunteer networks and youth associations willing to align with its stated objectives.

The group also announced the activation of the Akogun Lere Volunteers Alliance (ALVA), which will serve as its operational arm for mobilisation, communication and voter education activities. According to the statement, ALVA will coordinate grassroots engagement, facilitate the establishment of local government and ward chapters, and oversee the recruitment and deployment of youth ambassadors. Its responsibilities will also include digital communication, campaign messaging, content creation and online voter sensitisation.

The alliance is further expected to promote voter education through awareness campaigns on Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), citizens’ voting rights and peaceful participation in the electoral process.

Speaking on behalf of the movement, the State Coordinator said the initiative was intended to build an organised youth network capable of contributing to political engagement and shaping discussions about the future of Osun West. “The 2027 General Election is a defining moment for the future of Osun West. We are not just mobilising numbers; we are mobilising consciousness, capacity, and credibility,” the coordinator stated.

The coordinator added that the movement would work towards building a united and disciplined youth structure, with ALVA coordinating its major operational activities. The team called on youths, students, artisans, professionals, market associations and community stakeholders across the 10 local government areas to participate in the initiative.

It also announced that mobilisation, sensitisation and coordination meetings would commence immediately across wards and local government areas.

The statement was signed by the Directorate of Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication on behalf of the Akogun Frontline Team.

The proposed target of 50,000 youths represents the group’s announced mobilization’s goal ahead of the 2027 elections. Its eventual reach and participation figures will depend on the progress of its recruitment and organizational activities.
