ADELEKE INAUGURATES 344-MEMBER TINUBU RE-ELECTION COUNCIL IN OSUN AS OYETOLA, OYEBAMIJI, OTHERS STAY AWAY

Oct 23, 2026 | OSUN STATE

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has inaugurated a 344-member council to coordinate activities in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the state, an initiative that has drawn attention following the reported absence of several prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figures.

The inauguration brings a fresh political dimension to preparations for the president’s anticipated re-election campaign in Osun, where party alignments and the participation of influential political stakeholders could shape the direction of political mobilisation.

However, the reported absence of notable APC leaders, including former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola and APC governorship aspirant Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has raised questions about the level of participation among key figures within the party’s political structure.

The absence of prominent leaders at a gathering of this nature may attract political interpretations, particularly as parties and their supporters begin to position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.

Nevertheless, absence alone does not establish opposition to the initiative, and the reasons for the leaders’ non-attendance would need to be independently confirmed.

The 344-member council is expected to serve as a platform for coordinating political engagement and mobilizing support for Tinubu in Osun. Its effectiveness will depend not only on its size but also on the cooperation of party stakeholders, grassroots mobilization and the ability to build a united campaign structure.

As political activities continue to develop in the state, attention will remain on how the council operates and whether the prominent figures who were reportedly absent will participate in subsequent activities. For Osun’s political observers, the inauguration presents an opportunity to assess the strength of the president’s support network in the state and the extent to which party leaders can work together toward a common electoral objective.
